In observance of World Hepatitis Day 2026, a Guest Lecture was organised on 4th August 2026 by the Department of PG Studies in Kayachikitsa, at our Institution.

The inaugural function was presided over by Dr. Sarbeswar Kar, Principal, JSS Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital, Mysuru, under the patronage of Dr. C. G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, and Shri Mahesh R., Director of Medical Education, JSS Mahavidyapeetha. The organising committee, led by Dr. Deepa C Patil, Professor and Head, Department of PG Studies in Kayachikitsa, along with the dedicated faculty members, ensured the seamless execution of the scientific event.

The Guest Lecture had 3 eminent speakers. The scientific deliberations commenced with the Keynote Address by Dr. Ashok Kumar Panda, Research Officer, RARI, Ahmedabad, who eloquently discussed the topic – “Fatty liver: Can Ayurveda address an emerging health challenge”. His insightful lecture highlighted the evolving lifestyle challenges faced by the people and emphasized the relevance of Ayurvedic principles and treatment protocols in promoting healthy liver and effective management. He highlighted the ongoing integrative research studies in the field of hepatology and portrayed significant interest in the development of Integrative liver care.

The second speaker was Dr. Archana C P, Professor, Department of Kayachikitsa, RAMC, Bengaluru. She spoke on the topic – “From Classics to Clinical Practice: Understanding Formulations for Hepatitis”. Her lecture demonstrated detailed insights on the role of various Ayurveda formulations and therapeutic protocols that aid effective clinical practice.

The third speaker was Dr. Devaraja R, Consultant Medical Gastroenterologist, Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, Mysuru. His deliberation was on the topic – “Viral Hepatitis: Let’s Break It Down”. His insightful lecture highlighted clinical tips and lead points towards diagnosis, clinical decision making and critical care in viral hepatitis. He signified the importance of Ayurveda and modern integration in treating hepatic disorders and is positively keen about such research happening in future.

The program witnessed a positive response, with all institutional postgraduate students and final year undergraduate students benefitted by the deliberations. Students interacted with the guest speakers and availed good clinical inputs. Overall, the event was a success and more than 150 students and staff got benefitted.
