World Environment Day Celebration
JSS Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Mysuru, commemorated World Environment Day on 5th June 2026 with great enthusiasm and awareness, in alignment with the global theme "Inspired by Nature for Climate for our future." The program aimed to foster environmental consciousness among students and staff, focusing on the urgent need to reduce plastic use and promote sustainable living.
The event was graced by the Chief Guest, H V Divya, Subject matter Specialist (Seed Scientist), ICAR – JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur who delivered an impactful address on the environmental and health hazards posed by plastic pollution. She emphasized the need for collective efforts in reducing plastic dependency and highlighted practical solutions such as adopting biodegradable alternatives and community-driven waste management. Climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing humanity today. Rising temperatures, irregular rainfall, and extreme weather events remind us that urgent action is needed. Nature-based solutions such as planting trees, conserving water, protecting biodiversity, and reducing pollution can help restore ecological balance.
The program was presided over by Dr. Sarbeswar Kar, Principal, who spoke about integrating eco-consciousness within Ayurvedic education and lifestyle. He urged the students to act as responsible citizens and contribute actively towards environmental protection.
Distinguished members of the institution including Vice Principals Dr. Shivaprasad Huded and Dr. Srihari S, and Dr. Satish Pai, Head of the Department of Dravyaguna, were also present. Each of them addressed the gathering and reinforced the importance of environmental preservation through daily choices and academic practice.
The event witnessed active participation from the 2nd Professional 2024–25 batch students, along with faculty members and staff. Students expressed their support for the cause through various eco-awareness activities and pledged to minimize the use of plastic in their daily lives.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Santosh V R, acknowledging the contributions of all dignitaries, staff, and students, and reaffirming the institution's dedication to fostering a sustainable and plastic-free environment. "When we protect nature, we protect our future."
